How do you shave with out making your neck bleed?

On the right and left sides of my face it always ends up in a bloody mess whenever I shave.

Its not acne.. my face seems pretty smooth, but still, bloody mess.

Take a hot shower first or apply a washcloth soaked in hot water to the area for a few minutes prior to shaving. Softens up the hairs so you don't hack yourself up as much. Fresh blade on the razor will help too.

What kind of razer/shaving cream do you use? I use Mach3 Turbo and either Gillette or Edge Shaving Cream. Also, what way(s) do you shave? (with grain, against, sideways?)

Maybe my skin is just tough but I'd have to press reasonably hard to break it. It could also be because I don't shave against the grain.

Try an electric shaver.

I did, and now its leaking battery fluid and oil.

I need to call Remmington up about that one.

:Q

Try Norelco. Anything Santa can ride down a snow covered slope is good enough for me. 😀 (You have to be pretty old to remember those commercials)

Razor: Mach 3 or the Tracer FX.

Direction.. bottom up mostly.

I actually shave up on my neck except for my chin. For some reason I end up scalping myself if I try to shave up there. The rest of my face I shave with the grain and then go back and shave across the grain to get things nice and smooth.

Yup.

Hell I DRY shave, and still never cut myself.

But then I have YEARS of practice.... 😉
Ouch. I tried that once. Everything seemed fine until I went outside and got sweaty. All the salt on dry-shaved skin hurt like hell.

try using neutrogena anti bump shaving gel, or aveeno. and take sloooow, deliberate strokes. i only cut myself when i'm going too fast.

That'd be your problem right there.

yep
at least go top to bottom first then you can go bottom up. That's usually what I do.

So top to bottom all over?

yes. Top bottom all over, then bottom up. Otherwise you are just asking for trouble.

been there done that myself, I was at a friends house with a razor and no shaving gel. I just wet my face and shaved it. it seemed ok and did not really hurt. it was not until after I was patting my cheeks dry did i discover that I had done something very bad...My cheeks were bleeding all over, pinpricks that took forever to go away. Afterward it looked like I had a permanent case of Ted Kennedy going on (less than Rudolph like nose)...Looked almost as red as the time someone spanked my butt...thank god I was wearing boxers.... 😀

Top to bottom on your cheeks and chin.

I shave bottom up on my neck until I reach the bottom of my jaw. The above suggestions are good, though. Shave with warm water, use a sharp blade.
