Well Im guessing the best way is to use a s-video cable connection, but what software would I use to transfer the dvd playback to the TV.

Also would it be possible to bring satelite playback to a computer, thru the same thing, s-video cable connection. If so, again what software would you use to protect say a direct tv picture.

Thx just some multimedia questions for you guru's out there.

Also if you know any other tricks you can do with laptop-computer/TV let me know.

Thanks for all the help...

Both the laptop I own and video card have s-video options, and I guess playback options...? Still new to all this stuff.

Thx

To get DVD on my TV. I just hook it up for TV out and put my DVD software on fullscreen. There might be a better way though.

It's probably an ATI video device...as they're the most common in laptops.

Make sure you have the s-video cable(or whatever kind of video cable you're using, RCA video is probably the only other kind you'd use) physically hooked up between your laptop and tv...

Then just goto your display properties, advanced, tv settings, and set it to display to both your laptop display as well as the tv.

Play the DVD in full screen mode, that should work fine.

I guess I need to get a vga to s-video/rca adapater.

The S-video slot on the laptop is right next to the dvd drive, it even comes with an adapter that expands the s-video into s-video/Composite Video/Digital Audio. When I tried setting this up to the tv, I hooked it up and turned it to the proper input, but no go.

I went to the ATI settings, and they do have a tv option, but only thru the vga adapter not thru the dvd decoder like the s-video is. So I can't even switch it to tv unless I have a vga cable pluged in.

Well any other ideas please shoot at me,

Thanks
