Just bought a 3/8" Single Speed Reversible Drill.

Funny thing is that i came with 2 screwdriver bits, but no drill bit.

There's only 1 speedm and it's FAST.

How are you suppose to screw down screws with it? it always seems to slip off the top of the screw.

That's not what single speed drills are for.
You need a variable speed for that.

The button should be pressure sensitive and allow you to regulate the power.

You can get a variable speed cordless dewault or the like for less than $100 and a corded one for liek nothing..

<--ahs a cordless 7.2v variable speed dewalt and a corded skil single speed here at home/

whoops, bad link.

Just get a Makita/Ryobi/DeWalt cordless drill/driver and be happy the rest of your life. I have a 14 volt makita, and it rocks.

What's worse is that most of those cordless screwdrivers they sell are not variable speed. Wasted $30 on one because my wife's arm gets tired holding up my drill, and she never uses it because it's uncontrollable. Totally worthless as a cordless screwdriver, and that's it's sole purpose in life.

If he bought a one speed drill, chances are he isn't doing real work anyway:p

You could splice a variable resistor into the power cable and use that to control the speed. :p

well, you can use it to drive screws... it's just a little tricky.

I remember back in high school woodshop, there was one single speed drill among the other variable speed dewalts, and when everyone seemed to need a drill, someone got stuck with the single speed. and it was usually this one kid who was a little slow, and i just remember watching the hilarity of him using it to drive drywall screws into cedar... good times
