How do you run iometer test based to transfer size not time?

Is there any way to make IOMeter run a test based on total data transfer size rather than amount of time? For example I want to do a write test that transfers 20 GB and finishes rather than a test that runs for 2 minutes and finishes.

What are you trying to test? You can specify the size of the data set and measure the time it takes to transfer it, or you can stream data at a constant rate over a specified time. Either way, you end up with a measurement of the amount of data transferred over time.

How do you "specify the size of the data set"? Are you talking about IO block size per transfer or the total amount of transferred data per test?

The reason I'm doing this is that I am getting some REALLY good performance numbers on the SSD I'm testing(much higher than the spec), so I wanted to do a test with a specified amount of data and just use a stopwatch to time it and calculate the MB/s myself. I just wanted to make sure that it is not making a mistake in the calculation due to retrieving the wrong start/stop time from the system. Thanks.

SSD's are out of my budget for now so I really don't know how to answer you further. Check some of the results from this Google search.

Hope that helps. :)
