how do you resolve shared armrest disputes (movie theater, airplane, etc)

  • whoever gets the armrest first has rights

  • I share the armrest (and rub elbows ever so slightly if they are down with it)

  • i ask to take turns every 10 min

  • whoever is bigger gets the armrest

  • I assert my elbow of dominance all day everyday

  • I always assume the fetal position and surrender the armrest

  • everyone must take their left armrest

  • everyone must take their right armrest

One time on an airplane as I was sitting down, I noticed the guy next to me had his knee occupying a solid eight inches of my leg room. As soon as I took my seat, I nudged his leg back over to his side like a boss.

Take that, bitch!

Was it a nudge or was it a rub? ;)

I think whoever is bigger gets priority.

On a flight to HK, there was a fat guy on the right of me so naturally he took up the whole arm rest instead of sharing. I had to endure this for almost 14 hours and including the cramped leg room.

I start ahead of the planned flight or movie by loading up with ammunition; deviled eggs, broccoli, chili, etc. so by the time I'm scoping out my seat the mixture has fermented and is ready for deployment.

I can usually clear the seats and armrests to either side as well as those to the rear for maximum reclining; cuts down on chatter near me as well.

I doubt you fly much. You cant just swap seats.
