How do you reset a registry entry?

I'm trying to remove a virus but Symantec's instructions say to reset the entry. It dosen't say what to reset it back to.

Find someone who has the value needed for the entry and edit yours using Regedit.

Or rename the registry entry and see if Symantec will create it by default.

If it is not created by default after renaming it, un-install the app and re-install it.
