Is this a job for a pressure washer or is there another way to handle it?

Not sure - it's probably 5-8 years old. It is wood shingle with two layers of asphalt on top, so when it gets replaced, IT GETS TOTALLY REPLACED. Hopefully , I won't own the house then...

The roof is in good shape except for a couple of loose shingles which I can repair and some green areas which prompted this thread...

I think using a pressure washer on a roof is pretty dangerous. When things get a little wet, it will be nearly impossible to keep a good footing.

hmmm... pressure washing seems to be out of favor as it damages the roof...

This seems like a good product albeit it a slow acting one...

Get one of those things that people use to spray their garden with, you know, the little sprayer that you fill up with chemicals that you attach to your hose. Then, fill the container with bleach and spray down the roof. Be careful, it will be slippery.

I have to do this about once every two years or so to my house too, and it works instantly and is very cheap.

I don't have gutters all the way around. Will this kills the plants below?

Power wash and thne apply zinc strip at the ridge. You can buy the zinc strips at any roofing supply company.

It might, but I never had a problem with it, I have a ton of plants and bushes all the way around my house.

Picture here, I also have problems with mildew growing on the side of my house about once a year, the bleach does the trick.

Pressure washer can damage your roof. There are zinc sulfate, zinc chloride, zinc/copper sulfate, or bleach that can be use to kill moss. Metal are a pain in the ass to apply or mix, therefore the best solution is oxygen bleach to strip the enzymes off mosses (sodium percarbonate, for cleaning @ 6 ounces per gallon or 200 ppm). Zinc strip can be use to prevent moss from forming, but you will need a strip for very 3 feet of roof space. Also, trim the surounding trees branches so it is not depriving sun light to your roof.

I had moss on my roof, therefor I removed the tree branches that was over the roof, and spray bleach ++ scrub (brush on pole) the dead moss. And, it have been 3 years with no moss with out the need to reapply bleach (no zinc strip).

Thanks, no, I don't think it does, but I only have them on the east side of the house. It did make the house considerably cooler in the summer though.
