How do you remove an additional OS without fdisking?

Hi,

I went to load WinXP Pro and couldn't get it to install off the cd, so I tried booting with a Win9x/ME startup disk. Don't ask.. 😉 Anyway.. I finally got WinXP to install off of the cd, but apparently, Win98 started to install and I apparently have some remnants on my drive because every time I boot up, it asks me which OS I want to boot into.

So.. Is it possible to delete the partial install of Win98 on my hdd, so I can boot directly into WinXP on startup?

TIA,

Sal

or you can go to control panel, system, and in there, look for something about starup and recovery. you can change the booting method.

Thanks.. I went into startup and recovery and this is what it says:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
C:\ = "Unidentified operating system on drive C."

Now.. Can I edit this to change my boot up and if I can, what do I change?

Do I just remove the last line starting with C and ending with C.?

Thanks again,

Sal
