How do you relieve stress?

Orsorum

Lifer
I've been on the verge of breaking down for the last two days, and the weird thing is is that the workload isn't that bad. It's stressful, certainly, but not stressful enough to evoke the emotions I'm feeling. I have a midterm tomorrow, a short group paper due Tuesday, and two group projects (one short paper, one presentation) due Thursday.

I've tried to relieve stress by lifting weights, crying, writing, writing AND crying simultaneously, and, well, you know. What's your favorite way to relieve stress?

Cheers!
Nate

Long story, but I just had a break down last week. I was going through hell the last month.. and last week.. I just hit a point where I didn't care about anything anymore and that's the key! Just don't care about it.. and you'll feel so much better. No working out or beating the hell out of a punching bag or taking it out on someone.. you just feel sooo... strong and calm in a weird way.

I enjoy going to work now, and I'm not stressed anymore. It's hard to explain, but say you fail your test, etc. is it that bad? Just cool down, it's not a big deal. See it as fun and not something to stress over.

Actually, reading some Norman Vincent Peale (The Power of Positive Thinking) is really helping right now, I'm in a chapter on energy, and it mentions Edison and a few other examples of people who have energy. Part of the problem is that I'm not engaged in the classes, though I've been doing well. I've had other classes where I've been engaged and interested, and the energy just flows.

And if I don't do as well as I thought I would... well, worst I can do is a 3.0. It wouldn't raise my GPA, it would set me back a bit for my goal for graduation, but oh well. Life does go on.

I try and tell myself [stress] doesn't matter. Nothing matters . . . you do shows, you do this, you do that and then you have earthquakes in India where 400,000 people get killed. Honestly, it doesn't matter. That's how I handle stress. -- Donald Trump

That's how I handle it. Life isn't some ideal that you have to work towards and achieve in some perfectionist manner, life is what's happening right now. Enjoy it while you can, because you will die some day. Also, I think about i.e. the thousands of people dying miserably in Africa every day. Our lives are SO EASY compared to that. We take a lot for granted. You have it good, be happy about it.

Not a bad way to think about it. lol Of course, the fact that I'm on an internet forum at 4AM on a Monday morning may have something to do with my stress level.

I go out for a long hard run, that always helps. I also try to get to the coast as often as I can. If I'm really stressed, the best thing to do is go to a nice lonely beach and just scream obscenities as loudly as possible. A little wierd but it really helps and it feels very good afterward. Then a nice swim and maybe a nap on the beach and I'm good to go 😎

I don't get stressed out...nothing seems to bother me that much...
However, when I want to relax I either go for a run or sleep (of course)...

Playing sports is the best way in my opinion. Join local leagues of your favorite sport. Once or twice a week is great for killing the weekly grind.

masturbation then sleep

Isn't a .22 known as an assasin weapon of choice? Theory is, it has enough power to penetrate the skull once, then rattles around inside.

Well, its weaker than a .44 magnum thats for damn sure. But I think if I wanted to kill myself, I'd get in my garage with my car and sit...and hope I don't run out of gas.

I seem to remember hearing that as well, I'm not sure where though.

I think I saw it in my handgunnery tactics book by Ayoob.

There's a punchline here, and I'm missing it. Dangit.

No punchline, just an observation.
