Question How do you 'refurbish' an SSD?

Guy out there on the Bay selling 'seller refurbished' SSDs These are not manufacturer restored.

How would that work?

Probably just powering them on (hopefully) to see the S.M.A.R.T. data, and seeing if they show any signs of imminent death.

There is nothing else they can do (unless the are bad, and have the equipment to reset the S.M.A.R.T. data, though unlikely with SSDs).

I personally wouldn't chance it to save a few bucks over catching it on sale from a retailer.

Do a secure erase on the drive perhaps?

That should effectively zero it to factory state, apart from writes.
