How do you really delete browsing history?

I made sure to erase browsing history before restarting Win 7, but IE8 still suggests the sites from history. So what gives?

I tried in-private browsing and it shows as well. Now I am baffled.

I just learned that I can turn off auto complete for the address bar. That kind of solves the problem. I just wish it would not display suggested sites from history after deleting all browsing history.

I'll have to check it myself but it's hard to believe it would show sites that you browsed with In-Private in the suggested sites. That would defeat the whole purpose and make In-Private useless.

Edit: I just tested it and as I suspected, sites that I visited with In-Private did not show up in autocomplete/suggested.

Also there's a button to delete autocomplete history, internet options content tab.

And, you can manually go to the /Temporary Internet Files folder and delete anything you want. Leave the good cookies and zap the rest.

The delete autocomplete history button takes you to the same window as deleting browsing history. And I did that already.

Even with InPrivate mode, it still shows the site if you start typing URL on an InPrivate browsing session.
