Pretty simple, how do you pronounce the symbol *

Back in the '80's I was taught it was pronounced "splat", as in the shap of something squichy hitting something else. Others used "star", while I've heard many use the actual name of "asterics"(sp).

What's your poison?
 
I remember the old type and say thing on some old Macs my school had when repeatedly typing * * * * * ** * ** made it sounds like the voice was having an orgasm.

"asterick! asterick! asterick! asterick! asterick!"
