I've always just called it "U-Torrent"... but my friend just called it "Micro-Torrent"...

Which is correct?

I call it U-torrent, usually because that's how I see it and spell it. I have no idea how to type the micro symbol (greek letter mu) on anything outside of Word.

Micro-torrent would make sense though, because their biggest feature is how small it is filesize and memory allocation wise.

It's written as µTorrent everywhere on their site so it seems pretty obvious it should be micro-torrent.

Anyone can tell it's not a normal 'u' and the first hit when googling for µ i the wikipedia page explaining it. Although you might get the idea that it should be 'mew-torrent' since that's really the greek symbol Mu.

It's MicroTorrent, and that's how I pronounce it when I want to be accurate. That said, if I'm telling someone else about it and how to find it, I explain that while it's called MicroTorrent, the symbol for Micro looks similar to a "u," so that's what the website address is that they can download it from.

But your friend is, indeed, correct. It is pronounced "micro," not "you."

I call it u torrent because u is only one syllable while micro has two. I'm lazy like that.

mu-torrent. It bothers me to pronounce mu as "U", even if that's the way the program was meant.

Alright, well I'm glad I'm not alone in pronouncing it this way. It wasn't like that time I found out the makers of Doom called themselves "id" software and not "I.D." software... my whole 10 year old world got flipped upside-down.
