I've got a PYT that's going to be working under me next month as an intern. Her first name is Hui. She will call me by my last name and I will call her by her first. So, anyone here who speaks Chinese know the proper pronounciation of this word? Is it pronounced "huee"?

I pronounce it like 'way', but with a 'huh' at the beginning.

It's pronounced Hoo. But you have to first pull your eye lids back into slits, they like that. Pull your eyes back and say, "hoo are you?" laughs will ensue.

Where are you located? I know a Hui who recently came to the States. It would be a somewhat bizarre coincidence if it were the same person.
