I am seeing some conflicting views on the pronunciation. I say its Ore-ghun and my gf pronounces it as Ore-"gone". Which is correct?

I say Or-gone, Oregonians say Or-guhn (and I've heard a small minority say Or-eh-guhn).

Or-eh-guhn

That's probably the closest. ( I live just outside Portland)

I say it both ways :confused:

When I saw the thread title, I thought "ore-guhn". Then, I thought of Oregon Trail, which I would pronounce "ohr-ray-gone" trail.

I worked with someone that pronounced it "Ogre-Run". :Q

Also, for any visitors of our state, here are a few other common mispronunciations (with their name followed by the correct phonetic spelling):

Tigard = Tie-gerd

Couch = Cooch

Tualatin = Too-ah-la-tin

Willamette = Wil-am-it
