Shit I hate that you can't add a poll afterwards in VB if you accidentally forget to tick the poll box.

Can a mod help add one?

Asus:

I always pronounced it 1, but then learned it's probably 2? ...I still pronounce it with soft u out of habit.

ASRock:

1 for me, always. Who would want their brand to be known as "Assrock?"

Mushkin:
2

McAfee:

MAC-ah-fee.

ASUS - Yeah I've been pronoucning it as 1 for the longest time too. Seems 2 is right though.

ASRock - no I meant as, in 'as', not as in ass. Like azrock.

Asus I pronounce correctly (ah-zeus)
ASROCK = As Rock.
Mushkin I've never heard of, but probably "moosh kin" where moosh rhymes with WOOSH!
McAfee = Mac-Ah-Fee (I know it's not correct, but I've been saying it that way since I was 10).

I'm at kind of a disadvantage here because we get virtually no tech advertising in this country, so I've never seen an ad for Asus, ASROCK, Mushkin(?), McAfee or most of the other tech companies.

Mac-ah-fee is correct. Think John McEnroe, not Paul McCartney.

Or just watch the short video I linked to a few posts above.

I don't think any of these companies do much television or print advertising anywhere. Perhaps in some in the US and Asia? Most of their profits come from the OEM and enthusiast markets anyway so they don't need huge ad campaigns. The acceptation being ASUS which is branching out into all kinds of consumer electronics.

a-sus (like goose, with short a, stress on Sus) - official pronunciation, learned from a support call with Asus

As Rock (azrock, short az, stress on Rock), no idea as to the correctness

Moosh-kin (again, no idea, haven't hard from the company)

Mac-a-fee- this is correct

We have a new bread company that recently started selling in our area that spells their name Bimbo, but the jingle reminds you to pronounce it "Beembo".

They also print on the packaging that it is pronounced Beembo.

Why would people name their company something like that?
