Peltier

Commonly referred to in Pennsylvania as a "Dohicky Do-hic-e" or a "Thingamabob Thing-ah-mah-bob" :D

Morning everyone :Q *Yawn*

<Edit>

Also, speaking of definitions, I'd be careful to call myself "Giz" as a nickname from now on. Might give the wrong impression ;)

That's because it IS French, after Jean Peltier, the guy who discovered the thermoelectric phenomenon.

pel-tee-er?
pel-tier?

c'mon... :)

Dave

EDIT: I bet you guys can't even get his first name right... I'll give you a hint, it's not "Gene". ;)

Z24 is the only smart one here it seems - must be Canadian! ;)
Its pronounced Pel - Tee - "EH!"
!!!French and Canadian!!!

I know its kinda hard for you guys, but you'll catch on - don't worry!

P.S the first name is pronounced hard to explain by type: "Jauhn" (the "n" is weak) is the best I can do for you there

"I AM"

Coming from Jean-Claude Giraud himslef (pronounce JON - CLOD - GER - OH) I must say that it is pronounced Pel-tee-ay after Jean Peltier.

BUT, despite this, I call the DEVICE Pel-tee-er out of force of habit. :Q

I still think they suck too! :p

Just call it a TE module, then you don't have to worry about the pronuciation. ;)

You would also be more correct. The ThermoElectric modules use the peltier effect to work. It is a misnomer to call them peltiers.

Frenchie is right about the...uh, French. :) I've always pronounced it Pel-tee-ay. It figures that sheltered computer people would call it Pel-tee-er. ;)
