How dare I call you ignorant when you knowingly and intentionally mispronounce the name of another country? :laugh:

How dare you claim that "people like me" criticize Arnold for speaking with an accent, when I've clearly stated in this thread that I don't expect people to lose their accent when speaking.

I see that you've added that this has nothing to do with accents. How the hell can you say that this has nothing to do with accents, when it has everything to do with accents?

You know the correct pronunciation
You knowingly and intentionally pronounce the word wrong
That is petty and quite pathetic.

Just to spite you, I'm going to call it "YouRan" for now on. Either that or "East Mugsland"

Glad to see you're not childish. :thumbsup:

Glad to see that you're on the Internet, arguing about the pronunciation of a country that's 10,000 miles away. :thumbsdown:

Honestly, is this really that important to you? I can't even remember the last time I've pronounced the word Iran in person. I've read it, I've typed it, but I haven't pronounced it in a while.

And yet you're so adamant about the pronunciation? 😕

How dare you accuse me of not comprehending your point when you refuse to accept the proper ENGLISH pronunciation of a word? ENGLISH ******, DO YOU SPEAK IT?

How is this mature? Or even compliant with forum rules?

ee-ron is the correct way.

eye-ran is the result of an iPod nation.

Iran = ee-ron
Iraq = ee-rock

bravo jpeyton, its nice to hear proper pronunciation once in a while....

Odd that they'd be pronounced the same way when the first letter in each country's name is different

But you seem to be on a pretty high horse there...so I'm starting to question myself

I used to pronounce it "eye-ran" after the media kept calling it that.. But I met several people from Iran and from that area, and they called it "ee-raan" or "ee-run." So now, I pronouce it as such.

I've always pronounced it as ee-ron, but I don't notice it when people mispronounce it. Just like nuclear.
