How do you pronounce Bimmer?

Well? How do you pronounce Bimmer?

  • Beam (as in I'm going to beam HAL9000 upside the head)

  • Bim (sounds like Tim)

  • Something else...

In all honesty, I've never heard anyone pronounce it Bimmer. I've always heard it said Beemer...even when referencing cars.

I can't dispute the tag accuracy, but to be fair schneiderguy is only a bit creepy. Not like "candy van" creepy.

Me, too. Never said "bimmer" and have never heard anyone else pronounce it that way, either.

That link lacks connective logic, btw:

In those days, BMW motorcycles were quite active in racing, and one of their competitors at the track was often the BSA bikes.

Well as things would have it, a track slang developed, and the BMWs were usually referred to as 'beemers' and the BSAs were referred to as 'beesers'.

So, of course for any true enthusiast, there is no way that a BMW car could be called a 'beemer', so they were called 'bimmers'.

So, of course? WHY, of course, champ?

I say "B.M.W." and have never heard anyone refer to the brand as "beemer" or "bimmer".

If I had to choose for some arcane reason, I would say "beemer", based on the letter B.

This. I always say BMW anyway, but I've never heard anyone say "bimmer," only "beamer."

I've always found it curious that on the Internet, where people are too lazy to type out "you" or even "to," people would type out "bimmer."

So, of course? WHY, of course, champ?

Agree. In fact, the opposite is more logical since the nickname is based on the company name and not anything specific to their motorcycles.
