How do you pronounce "ATOT"?

Never said it out loud. In my mind when reading it I usually say a-tot. But if I were forced to say it out loud for some reason I would just say Anandtech Off-topic.

Samuel L Jackson has a 45 pushed up against the base of your skull. "Say ATOT motherfucker".

But, he's taunting you, in a general fashion as below:
"Say it, motherfucker please just say ATOT! You ain't some kind of a pussy are you?! Say ATOT!"
😀

Why would anyone try to pronounce it as a word instead of reading the letters or saying what they stand for? It's an abbreviation, idiots! I always LOLed at professors and so-called "professionals" who tried to pronounce URL, PCI, EISA, VLB, AGP, EIDE, UDMA, UATA (I resisted "SATA" myself but now I'm OK with it and the retconned "PATA"). If it isn't easily pronounceable and pronouncing it will not interfere with the audience's interpretation then, by all means, go ahead.

How do you pronounce AIDS, NATO, PIN, VIN, NASA, OPEC, ROM, or even scuba and laser?

I was editing that post and got interrupted. Clearly, I am OK with pronouncing pronounceable abbreviations. Even so, just because you pronounce SCSI as "skuzzy" doesn't mean you are expected to have a pronunciation for similarly awkward abbreviations that should only rarely ever come up in spoken word (just say "Anandtech Off-Topic forums").

You may find that some will argue that acronyms are the abbreviations that are pronounceable where initialisms are the abbreviations that are not (i.e. FBI (initialism) vs SCUBA (acronym)).

Personally, I find it silly to even make a slight fucking deal (let alone a big fucking deal) out of someone pronouncing an abbreviation to be as silly as someone attempting to do it. The point is to understand what the hell they're talking about. If the attempted pronunciation does not affect that, then stop being so damned obstinate.
