I can't imagine living where you do. It's flat as a pancake and all the land looks the same. I would be seriously depressed living there. I need to be close to the water and can't imagine living so far from it. I've been out on the ocean out of site of land in 360 degrees and I imagine that would be kind of what it's like to live out on the great plains. Just flat land as far as the eye can see.

We do have trees, buildings, hills, and other interesting structures...And the Great Lakes are awesome. You can go out onto the Lakes and feel like you are heading into the ocean because it's so big. Your imagination of what it is like is extremely dry. Come out to Michigan and see for yourself. (I can't speak the same of the Iowa cornfields though, sorry Iowa :p )

hell I met people when i was in the Navy that had never seen the ocean before....
they dont know what they are missing till they actually see it...

Im glad I'm well traveled and grew up in Cali where I saw the ocean and mountains every single day...

Id hate to think whats its like to stay in the same town your entire life and not have ever seen the ocean or a mountain.

i think michigan is beauitful.. most of the time, except in the dead of winter when its too cold even to snow and the snow already on the ground is black and brown from dirt... uhgh.. i cannot wait to move

It's not all that flat. I do miss mountains and oceans, though. We have lakes :)
We do get the benefit of only having to deal with tornados, instead of earthquakes and hurricanes.

I've been to Michigan. My Mom is from Grand Rapids area, Spring Lake to be exact. Michigan isn't bad but I wouldn't want to live there.

I've lived by the ocean my whole life, and I wouldn't miss it at all if I moved away.

That's what I was wondering. Everything east of the Appalachian's and west of the Rockies is full of dragons and monsters according to every map I've seen.

Its a flat land in Michigan
but we've got great lakes there.
so its pratically the nearest ocean.

I know, CA has plenty of mountains and such.
but its not all too bad to have flat land.

yes can get a little boring sometimes.
I was a student then. so i should be studying anyway ;)

I am republican...although, with the crap this legislature & President are doing I'm thinking of switching parties. Maybe the Libertarians would have me? :p

*looks around*

OMG!! Is that a bathtub...

later guys... ;)

Seriously though, swimming in the great lakes (Michigan) is better than swimming in the ocean...for one they are cleaner, and also it does not leave a salty aftertaste
