We've tried doing the "bow the top and the bottom of the door and cramming pennies in on the handle side, which makes it harder to open, but we have handle doors, not circular knob doors...so I dont think thas how it works.......We tried putting coins on the hinge side, but they just fall when you open the door! What are we doing wrong?!

from another forum:

To penny lock someone in: It is best if you have two or three people working on it. The first thing I prefer to do is to duct tape about 6-8 pennies together. Then I get one person to push in at the top of the door as hard as they can. We then place the stack of pennies between the door and the trim as close to the doorknob as possible. Repeat this step for the bottom. Once we get the intial fit, we like to use a deadblow hammer and a wide blade screwdriver to pack the pennies in as far as they will go. Have fun!! :D

some doors are harder to do than others. Ive always placed the pennies either right above the knob or right below it. I think the closer to the nob the better.

Looks like it wont work...we jammed some in TIGHT, but you can still open the door....our main problem is that the handles are about 4" long, so you can get a LOT of leverage, when compared to the little to none you get with a traditional door knob
