How do you pass the time on a road trip?

I am planning on driving to LA in a few days (from sacramento..about 7-8 hours), but one of those ways I might be traveling by myself

I am obviously going to burn 500 new CD's for myself, but how do some of you keep a grasp of your sanity while driving for so long?

Don't get me wrong, I love my car, I love driving...but considering I will be leaving right after work, I am not looking forward to the trip itself, only the nubile young female waiting at the other end

Timeline (if you want a long one I just finished the unabridged 15 hour book on tape it was great!) & the Left behind Series for all you heathens out there!

Well, you could try throw thrash at oncoming traffic. I mean stuff like half-eaten hamburgers, cokebottles, contents of your ashtray... Try to hit the windshield.

Or, instead of throwing thrash you might consider urinating on oncoming traffic...

That usually spices things up a bit .

7-8 hours is easy.

Just plan out some large project. Doesn't matter what it is just keep your mind active trying to figure out intricate details. Works for me on my road trips. Although, some people would call me a little strange.

It's all about mind control.

Play the alphabet game. Looking at all the signs/licence plates/trucks you see you have to find letters A, B, C....and soforth. And you have to find them in the right order. Some letters are hard to come by.

But like ttn1 said it's all about mind control. Focus on the road but keep your mind active. Checking mirrors often might help.

i'm taking a road trip with the gf from la to tahoe in 3 weeks...i like driving but to keep me awake i just play some music (punk rock rules!!!) but i haven't tried audio books before...thats a good idea! i'm basically driving there by myself cuz my gf always falls asleep so its even tougher seeing her being able to sleep.
