How do you overclock a p2 400 and a p1 133?

is this even possible? that may sound dumb, but i really dont know how to do it. is it a jumper thing? i have an old pentium 133, it was a dell until i stripped it down, but i still have the cpu and board.

i also have my dads computer, the p2 400, and i was wondering how i could turn that up..to maybe 500?

The P2 400 should OC by FSB, but it's multiplier locked. Try for a 112 FSB for 448 MHz. Depending on the board, it might OC by jumpers, dipswitches, or in the BIOS. Or maybe not at all.

Viper GTS

im at school right now, so i wouldnt be able to go and look...but i really dont have a clue what it is. maybe itwill say it on there....? would it even be worth overclocking a p1 133?

also, i found a motherboard with a 486 66 in my closet...i moved all the jumpers around trying to see what happens but i really had no idea what i was doing

i dunno if this is even worth it..but hey doesnt hurt to ask

Most P133s can not be overclocked. It is one of the few P 1 processors that have a "fixed" multiplyer. It is not locked in the same mannor as the PIIs, but it will only opperate at 2 times the bus speed no matter what you set the board multiplyer to. You probably could replace it with a P 200 non MMX for about $40, but it would be much better to spend the $$ on a newer motherboard and processor. R.

well....that didnt work. the p133 wont OC =(

oh well...how can i overclock a p2? this i dont know how to do either...any suggestions?

Assuming your mobo supports it, there should be some Dipswitches or jumpers on the board for adjusting the Multiplier and/or FSB. Check your manual to be sure. You should note, however, that some of the older or more generic PII motherboards had virtually no overclocking options.

BTW, check your BIOS to see you don't have any Multiplier or FSB options in there somewhere. Maybe you're running an early Abit motherboard 😉

Got my old PII 400 to run perfectly for months at 500 on an ASUS P2B. Increased the FSB to 124! I used a better than average HSF (Cooler Master) nothing special.
