How do you orginize your MP3s?

I have traditionally done:

Genre->Artist - Album

IE:

-Punk
----Rancid - Life Won't Wait
----Rancid - Rancid (2000)

But I am considering:

Genre->Artist->Album

IE:

-Punk
----Rancid
--------Life Won't Wait
--------Rancid (2000)

You?

Just one folder with a single subfolder for each seperate album named like this:

Artist - Album Title

Within that I have the MP3s named

#. Artist - Title

E:my music -> artist -> album -> Band - ## - title.mp3

oooo look i found an example

this is basically it just without the actual songs listed but you get the idea

i usually wait till i have 3-5 songs from an artist before i create a folder for them. if i have a full album and some other random songs i put the album in its own folder and the songs stay in the artist one

Artist > Album title

That's for all my CDs that I've ripped.

For all my other music, I just have them placed in my MP3 folder. And a sub-folder for my FF7 music 😀

`K

Artist - Album Name - ## - Song Title.mp3

## marks the track number (eg. 01 or 15) of the album.

D'oh, thought there was a poll 🙁

Simple answer though, I dont organize my music. I have some of hte same songs three times, and like 2 gigs of wav files that I am too lazy to convert.

Music -> Artist -> (Year)Album -> Artist_-_Album_Name_-_##_-_Song_Title.mp3

IE:

-Music
----Soundtracks
--------2001 - Snatch
--------2003 - Kill Bill Vol. 1

everything is in a single Music folder, then divided by genre, which has the files in artist - song format. i also keep a separate Albums folder for full albums rather than singles.

One directory, then:

Folders for full albums (folderArtist, folderAlbum, mp3s)
Folders for random stuff in genres (dnb, psy trance, hip-hop, etc.)
And random mp3s that I have not yet put into genres.

file names are:
artist - year - track# - title

albums go in an "albums" folder... which has artist folders and album folders within the artist folders.

classical music is sorted by composer (tagging is different too). As of now I only have artists in the "comments" tag... but over Christmas break I think i'll make folders for each recording title (within the composer folder)

I don't like how itunes would just jumble everything up. I like having the two separated. It makes more sense to me.

Same here. Used to futher break down like this MUSIC>GENRE>ARTIST>ALBUM> artist-song title.mp3 but found I like the other way much better. I use playlist for more in depth orginazation.
