How do you organize your music?

Curious how users organize their music on their ipod or computers? I am starting to find keeping full albums on the ipod is draining space on some songs that i rarely listen to, and thinking of just going by folders for artists, with individual songs.

Artists with two or more songs:
My Music/Artist/ [Artist] - [Track Name]

Artists with only one song:
My Music/ [Artist] - [Track Name]

I use Winamp (and a Zen Touch for the MP3 player).

I store individual songs under My Music, and albums under Albums within My Music as such:

\My Music
Invidiual Songs Stored in the Following: [Artist] - [Title].mp3

\My Music \Abums\[Artist]\[Album]
Songs stored as: [Artist] - [Album] - [Track#] - [Title].mp3

I just rip it down and let my jukebox program display them to me alphabetically or by genre or whatever.

I use CommandCubes which is great for playing audio to your whole house.

Usually

\Artist\Album\Artist-Album(date)-nn-Title

it can get messy and long but I like each track to carry almost the full information

and if it is a compilation cd
\album\Album(date)-nn-artist-Title

I also like this because all the music is sorted in the correct order

music folder\artist\album\track #
random songs just get thrown in the general music folder and alphabetized by artist.

Music folder/Genre or category/Subgenre (where applicable)/Artist or Source - Artist (for a movie or soundtrack)/"Album Name - Disc # - Track # - Song Title.mp3"

For me, I've found the best way is:

Artist\Album\# - Title.mp3

Most of the songs I have are full albums. Things that are just singles go into the Artist folder as Artist - Title.mp3 Then my player (winamp) sorts by Path/filename. That way, all my music comes up alphabetically by artist with albums listed alphabetically (and chronologically for multidisc sets) with the songs in the right track order. I use one big playlist with all my music and just pick from there.

I have a folder called Media, then a sub-folder called MP3s, then break-down by genre, then artists with albums/discography/etc.

I like having all my music in one list and I dont care about the album (its is tagged on full albumes in the ID3).

So all my music in one HUGE Folder. (IE Hank Williams - Move It On Over.mp3)

That way if im not using iTunes (which I dont unless im updating Ipod) I can just open the folder type first few letters and it jumps to who I want. Press enter and Winamp plays it. My Favorite way to do it.

OH! As far as iTunes' library feature, it blows. Unless you have tagged every file yourself (or upon ripping the album) iTunes wont know who it is.

wmp's organizer function... its especially better than itunes because it has a online song lookup feature which will correct all the id3 tag details and put it in the correct folder.

i use my own org system. Name-Title-year-grp. call me a release hound but i keep am all the same and just alphbetize them into my server.
