How do you open games in Windows mode?

Sorry, I tried searching the archives, but couldn't find this. I got an ATI TV Wonder for Christmas, and want to watch a small TV screen while I play games. But I forgot how to open a game in Windows mode. Something about adding "-w" to the target path. If anyone can help, I greatly appreciate it!

Create a shortcut to the EXE on the desktop.

Right click -> Properties on the Shortcut;

Goto the shortcut tab, and add -w after the .exe

ex: "C:\UT2003\UT2003.exe -w"

If that doesn't work you could always just press ALT+Enter in the game...

It really depends on the game. Some use a commandline argument, others have a setting in the configuration menus. Is there any particular game you're curious about?

I know Alt+Enter takes you to Windows, but I want the game to run in Windows, so I can see my TV window while I'm playing. I added -w after the exe, and inside the quotations, and it says it's not a valid file path. Maybe it's not possible with Madden 2003.

the -w should be outside of the quote marks. it should look like this: (depending on what path the game is in)

"c:\program files\madden 2003\madden2003.exe" -w


also, as fatalbo said, it depends on the game. read the readme file or whatever for each game, and it should tell you how to run the game in windowed mode.

some games won't
