How do you "mod" a power supply cables to have less of them?

I got this enermax power supply 430watt (whisper series)..it has WAY to many connections that I need.

Is there a guide someplace that gives a walkthrough on how to mod these to slim down the connections to save precious case space and better airflow?
There is 3 long runs, one for floppy power and 2 other long runs (about 1 foot long) that i just have to shove between optical drives, be nice to remove them somehow without fubering up power supply, or worse spending a lot on a moduler one. hehe

Any suggestions?

Route them around the PSU and hide them behind the right case panel.

Yah like that is even a option. No room to do that since side panel next to the bar in top part of case. Don't think i've thought of that? hehe

Cut them off and insulate the bare ends. Don't do it if you don't know what you're doing.

you can cut them off inside the psu where they are soldered on also so you dont have dead ends hanging.

I cut them off outside on my X-Finity :p, ofcourse I made sure I cut at varying lengths so that the open leads are not next to each other, than I covered them with electrical tape.

That is exactly why I bought a modular PSU. I didn't want to deal with any extra cables that I don't need. Try the Enermax Liberty.

Ok i will cut them off inside the power supply and insulate them. I was not sure if that was something that would work is why i asked. For some reason I was thinking lots of soldering was involved :p

Boyo, like I SAID in the first post don't want to spend money on a modular one if i don't have to..

I've always found that hiding the cables works well. When there's a will, there's a way...

If you ever decide to sell it, the buyer will want it in original condition. I'd just tie the excess back as best you can with zip or twist ties.

yeah you will see once you crack the case that you can just snip them at the source with no worries. if you need them back just resolder them back on.

Thanks all for suggestions.

No possible way for me to route cables in case, its a inwin q500 tower case, and the wires are restricted because of bars on the side to reroute behind motherboard. It just looks tacky me shoving them all in the 5.25 bays :p

Bundle them inside a drawstring bag - and then stuff them in a free bay. Won't look so messy... ;)

Desoldering with a high (~50W or more) iron is the neatest result, but often you can't just pluck out individual wires, 2-4 may be bundled together in a larger hole requiring too much work to be reasonable (and of course, to some even desoldering is too much to be reasonable).

The next best is to get some heat shrink tubing. It comes in a variety of sizes, 3/32 is a good size (once shrunken smaller), 1/8 will usually work too. It's preferable to get some with a glue lining so when you heat it to shrink it, you can leave about 1/4" extending past the end of the wire. The glue melts and while it's still hot you can pinch the end shut with pliers and it will be fully insulated, air-tight and permanent *enough*. A 4' piece of tubing is about $1 at various electronics surplus 'sites.

You can always find a way to hide the cables, unless you have your PSU suspended in the middle of the case. Just take all of your unused cables, zip tie them toghether, then use some electrical tape to stick them to the top of the case (or the bottom, whichever is closer).

Plenty of room on top of the PSU to bundle and tie up your unwanted cables for your case.

Not really baked, the remaining cables are attached by a power plug loop thing halfway up the power cable, so still have half of it hanging down.
