How do you measure temps?

I've read people reporting cpu temps at idle and at full loads...my question is where to find these numbers.

If I boot up the bios/setup I can see the cpu and system temp....I assume that's at idle.

The only way I can figure out the temp while running something is to use Sandra...which reports 3 temp values: system, cpu, and power/aux. The system temp correlates with what I see in the bios...but the power/aux reported in Sandra seems to be what the bios reports as the cpu temp....so what's the power/aux or cpu in Sandra actually reporting? I didn't even know I had 3 thermistors....and Sandra shows 3. Can someone please educate me? Thanks in advance.

I have an Abit KT7 (non-raid).

how accurate is motherboard monitor? I have a 1ghztb@1150mhz and it's about 38-39C at idle according to motherboard monitor. How accurate is this?? I've heard socket A temp's aren't accurate, are they read too high or read too low?

you want to read your mb/processor temp ??
didn't your ABIT mobo shipped with a CD containing drivers and the monitoring software ?
Check your ABIT CD.... it's there
I have ABIT on mu own, and i use that s/w

daudi,

what's your ambient case temp? What mb are you using? What heatsinks?

But most likely, its beign under-read.

I'm using an antec 1030b w/ 3 case fans right now. I have the fop32-1 with the msi pro2 motherboard. How do I find my ambient case temp? The other temperatures that motheboardmonitor reads are 27c and 26c, are those my ambient temperatures?
