How do you manage to wake up in the morning?

This sounds dumb because I'm 23 but how do you get up every morning. For as long as I can remember I've hated mornings more than anything. The sound of the alarm clock is like the worst sound in the world. I skipped so much school because the alarm went off and I just couldn't get myself up. I know its as easy as "just get up" but its the same terrible thing that I dread every day. I'm going to hate it when I have a different job that requires me to get up at 6, 5 days a week or something.

If you're a morning person, I'm envious and you suck. If you have trouble with mornings, what have you done to make them better. Is there a routine, or a certain breakfast food. I dont think theres anything that will help me other than just becoming old where everyone gets up at 5am anyway, but its worth asking :D

dude you need to hit the sack earlier. If you consistently go to sleep before 10 at night, you can easily wake up at 7 in the morning. Just do it for one week, thats all it takes.

Hey Soybomb, long time no see. :)

What time to do you go to bed? In my better-rested days I would work out around 10, shower, and head to bed around 11:30 PM to get up at 6 AM the next day. Felt pretty good those mornings - deep sleep from having tired your muscles out and the required amount of sleep my body's always needed (~6 hours). I think tiring yourself out physically is a big part of the puzzle.

Not to disappoint you, but it does not seem to get better with age. I am 48 and had just a hard time this morning as I did at your age.

Whats up man :D Been busy brewing beer lately, not as much posting for me!

I think you're on to something, my job now is really laid back and I can do in whenever so I've been going to sleep at like 3 - 4 and getting up at noon a few days a week. It wasn't easy to be up early before but now its like impossible :D I wanted to start working out in the mornings, but maybe before bed would be best.

Heh, I'm exactly the same as you. I hate getting up and even if I have to, I'm pretty much useless before 11am.

I use a clock radio and set it to NPR talk radio, listening to the news wakes me up everytime.

I used to have the biggest trouble waking up in the morning. In college, I skipped many classes because of my desire to sleep. I had 4 of the loudest alarm clocks I could find, and they didn't help at all.

For me, the most important thing is getting my 8 hours of sleep at night. If I do that, I don't have any trouble getting up in the morning. Another thing you might try is one of those "alarm" clocks that have a light on them. They don't actually set off an alarm, they just turn this light on and it gets brighter and brighter. It's more of a natural cue rather than the unnatural alarm.

Oh, and I hate alarms too. With a passion. I also hate any company that uses an alarm clock in their commercials as a cheap ploy to get your attention. As a result, I can never buy another Pop Tart.

I have a 14 month-old daughter. Her screaming her head off at 6:45am every morning is an excellent alarm clock. :p

I always wake up to a slow BJ, it's the best method I've found but you'll need some help for that to work. I also have a 10 month old daughter, and that seems to work if you really want to get up early every day.

the only time I can be assured an early wake up is when I wake up next to a chick. the only time I can be assured to never wake up is when I need to get her up and she'd rather cuddle isnstead.

I live 80% of my life between those two remotes... for better or worse

Nothing will get you up in the morning like a BJ. So true, so true....

Basically try to concentrate on getting at least one foot on the floor. If you can do that you can get up.

gather all your strength and force yourself up. most hard working people are sleepy all day. some get 4hrs others get 6hrs if they are lucky.
