If I were really organized, my answer would be I use some reusable velcro cable ties that I bought a while back.

In reality, I could quote what mfenn said.

There are dedicated cable holders on sale, but they're usually too expensive for what they actually do. My desk is a complete mess (currently I'm looking at plenty of used toothpicks, a nailclipper, a lost screw, a USB wireless adapter, some change, a lost battery, an old dirty spoon, a DVD stack, my guitar pick holder, my spare glasses, a few yogurt lids, a tie, my Metro pass, an empty envelope and lots of paper, crumbled or otherwise). I never really bother with cleanliness TBH, but there's stuff to manage the wire jungle, if you look for it.

I actually have a velcro tie on my bundle of wires from my dual monitor setup on my scanning computer at work. However, it has been on it since IT installed the computer. I am afraid to mess with the wires or move the monitors too much so I dont mess with it. It helps to have a 20 year old L-desk that is oversized.

One computer at home has all kinds of wires. I put one of those Sound bars on my monitor so there are wires for that. Then there is a Skype Headphone and also a webcam which is covered up so people cant see me. (I know, what is the point.) Mouse is plugged into the front.

My wife's computer is simpler because there is only one cable HDMI that plugs into the computer to the HDTV for video and sound. However there is still a keyboard and mouse plugged in and 2 power cords.

I was just thinking for mouse and keyboard there should be a cable that plugs into the back where the 2 usb ports are linked together or maybe just one USB Hub. Why dont all computers have 4 or more USB plugs on the front? My Dell at work has 4.

I don't go there. It requires hazardous duty pay.

With a pass through hole in the table for the cables of peripherals, and underneath the hole, a cable tray where I keep the whole mess.

i usually buy the shortest cables that can reach, that really helps with the clutter.

Velcro straps.

I get them free at work, we do installs into racks, velcro straps are awesome.

Thankfully most of the time I don't have to look at or through that tangle. Everytime I have to change something I curse not having organised it in the past, then thread another knot through the mess and call the job good.

I have half as many cords behind/under my desk as I had at my last place, but somehow the bundle of wires is just as big, if not bigger. I've given up trying to tame computer cables.

Velcro strips and patience. It takes time to find the cleanest way to route cables.

I lack patience, so mine are a mess.
