putting cheese on macaroni doesn't cut it for me. the cheese, if left out too long, gets hard and yucky and you can't mix it in the macaroni... there must be a way to make the cheese more moist and "versatile" and milky... so someone tell me how to do it easily.

kthx :)

you need to take a pot, put it on the stove on med/low heat.

you need to add a little butter and flour. 2 to 1 ratios should do it.

cook that for a few minutes until all the flour is absorbed.

Add milk.

Stir until creamy.

Add cheese and TAKE OFF THE HEAT. Only the residual heat should be left to melt the cheese. Otherwise it will separate and be yukky.

Add pasta.

:)

on top of the mac and cheese before you stick it into a microwave? obviously, what i'm asking is not about taking a pan and melting milk and cheese together onto it (is that how they do it anyway?)

is there a simple way? this is why mac & cheese is supposed to be EASY to make.

We are talking about the real stuff? I never bother with that.

Now with Kraft..I drain most of the water, add a good bit of butter (maybe one big heaping tablespoon) then add the powder cheese gradually. I add lowfat milk as needed.

I make Kraft Mac n CHeese all the time and it's always awesome. I follow the instructions on the box, cook noodles for 8-9 minutes, add the 1/4 cup of milk, I add maybe 1T of butter (usually not even tha tmuch). THen I pour in half the cheese and mix that in. THen add the rest of the cheese and add that in. Works great.

If I have to re-heat it, I like it not mily the second time around but I'm told if you warm it up, then add a little bit of milk and mix it up again it turns more milky.
