How do you make mac and cheese?

I saw the dry boxes at the supermarket yesterday. I'm not sure how something so dry turns into mac and cheese. Do you supply the cheese or do you supply the noodle? If the noodle is already in there and its dry don't you have to cook it first and then wouldn't the cheese be all diluted in the water?
 
the cheese and the noodle is in the box

you boil the noodles. strain them after, add a bit of milk & butter, and stir in the cheese

if you want some excellent mac and cheese then follow the directions on the box with a couple of differences. only use about 2/3 the bag of powdered cheese and add about 5 slices of velveeta.

edit: this is funny... we were having a convo about Kraft dinner mac & cheese the other night @ hockey.

one of our goalies told me that even though Canada is ~1/10th the population of the US, we eat more mac & cheese. wonder if this is shens

Each box calls for half a stick of butter already. DOUBLE butter? :Q I'd hate to be your cardiologist. 😛
 
fill pot with water (>6cups),
set to boil,
once boiling pour in macaroni,
reduce heat to medium and let simmer 7 -10 minutes (longer if you like softer noodles),
drain, turn heat to low
add a half tablespoon of margerine, cheese sauce and a cup of milk to empty pot,
pour into pot drained macaroni,
stir until butter is dissolves and most of milk is absorbed,
remove from heat and let sit 2 minutes,
serve
 
Buy a bag of elbow macaroni, cook it and add some velveeta cheese, some butter and milk and you have the best macaroni cheese around.
 
i highly recommend everyone try my trick of adding some velveeta to your mac and cheese. once you go velveeta, you never go back.

Skip the box stuff altogether.

Buy box of Elbow Macaroni; cook them per directions on box.

Drain and put them back in the pan.

Add some butter and some milk...not too much milk or it will get to runny... then add chunks of Velveeta to taste.

That's how my mom made it... that's how I make it.

You can experiment with other pasta shapes as well... spirals, shells, etc.

Could also stir in sliced hot dogs, or sausages, browned ground beef, broccoli, etc.

Sure, maybe in moderation. But one or two sticks of butter for a single meal?

Butter is loaded with cholesterol and saturated fat and will contribute over time in the build up of cholesterol and other stuff in the artery walls. That's not healthy. These plaques increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. (duh)

Perhaps my irony meter is broken today.
 
Boil water, Add noodles, wait 7 minutes, add butter and milk, add cheese, stir.

Not real hard and the directions are right on the box... I only add a small amount of butter though. The actual box calls for like half a stick.
 
fvck fvck fvck fvck, 1st attempt completely fvcked up up.

Kinda looked at the direction says cook 4 min. After I was all done thing was still hard not really cooked it seems. Reread direction it was actually something about roasting walnut? for 4 min and the actual direction was cook for 6-7 min..............
Now I need to go buy a new box of macaroni
 
this is a really funny thread to me.

I have never made boxed mac & cheese either.

it is banned from my house... along with shake & bake and hamburger helper.
