How do you make a solid non-disclosure or non-compete agreement?

I might have something I want to patent, but I want to build it first to see if it will work. Most of the parts will have to be made by a machinist though, so I was wondering if there was a cheap site out there that has these type of agreements or some other way to get a rock solid one.

hire a professional<attorney> to draw it up, why take a chance, especially if it has any potential to make money.

Well, this is a standard contract that I know has been done a million times before. I just don't know of any good lawyers that I could hire. I would hate to just pick one out of the phone book, cuz who knows what ambulance-chaser I could get. I don't know, I just figured that there might be a better way like get a copy of a similar contract and base it off of that. Plus I'm supposed to meet with the machinist tonight.

Mail a copy of the drawing to yourself and do not open it. That makes it legally copywrited.A good start. Tell the machinist the design is already in the patenting process. You can patent an "idea" as well. Most patented items began with an idea patent first.
It's somewhere to start.
