How do you lock IDE channels?

i have an MSI neo4 platinum and an Amd 3500+ clawhammer which I would like to overclock. Everything works fine except when I overclock my dvd burner(benQdw1640) goes crazy while playing F.E.A.R. This is my only drive and naturally the game disk is in it when this is happening. As soon as I start the game the drive starts seeking frantically making a noise not unlike robotic mice on crack. The sound goes away when I return to stock settings. The pci\pcie bus(es) are locked according to clockgen and I tried changing to the other IDE plug on the off chance only one was locked. If someone could tell me a way to make sure IDE buses are locked I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance.
