How do you like your Camaro?

Manual or automatic transmission?

Also, do you do your own maintenance? Just curious, wondering if there is any correlation between driving a stick and doing your own maintenance (even if it's little things).

and I realize it's "biased" in a way since i'm only querying cam drivers, but.. meh, curious about that crowd, let's say.

If I had an LS1, I'd get an auto. I know a guy who went 12.2 w/ bolt ons and a shift kit in his '01 trans am.

My mustang is a five speed.

6 speed, LS1 and I do all the maintenance I can myself. I have a T/A, not a Camaro, but its still an F-Body.

What generation are you talking about? I have had 2 first gens, 2 third gens, and currently own a third gen and a fourth gen. Both are auto (the third gen is set up for only drag racing, and it's running 11's) but the 4th gen is for street use.

I had a 94 and then a 95 (guy ran a redlight and hit me, totaled the 94).

I don't see why people gripe about them so much, I absolutely love the way they drive. Sure it has a lot of body roll, but that's what makes it fun 😛

I didn't do my own maintenance for 2 reasons:

Sits too low. Couldn't get under the car to change the oil and things like that

Know a guy that owns a Firestone place. He always did all the work on it and was good prices. Just took forever.

One thing is for sure, those bastards go through alternators :|

I went through 4 between the two cars. Yow. And a lot of people knock Bose and I can agree sometimes, but the sound systems in the cars were absolutely outstanding.

Other than the alternators ($250 a pop), the things that went wrong:

Worn tie rod: $60
Rear end leak (something was leaking on the brakes...they wouldn't work): $400
Blown head gasket at about 100,000 miles on the 95. $800

That one sucked ^^

By "blown header" you mean "blown head gasket", right?

oh shiet bruno, that sucks... Ultima just finished with a head gasket on his dodge shadow, and that was a big pain in the ass.. saved a lot of money though.

I don't own a Camaro, but my coworker does, so I'll answer on his behalf.
It's an SS, and it's automatic and he does all his own work.
