My freshman year, my grades weren't so hot..... which shows how effective my studying habits are.... I actually don't have any.

Now in my sophomore year... my GPA went up half a point.. so now it stands at 2.5 cumulative

I'm not the brightest bulb ... I have to put effort to pull good grades.

My goal is to graduate college with at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and around 3.5 science GPA.

Obviously at this rate.. this isn't going to happen. I'm willing to spend every summer taking classes to get back on track and raise my GPA .

I seriously don't know how to study.
I try going to classes.... but never consistent. It's hard to get up every morning after sleeping only 4 hours.. so i end up skipping them plus I live off-campus.

Do you guys seriously spend 4 hours DAILY studying? Even if I do study, I feel like I'm just reading the material over and over... i don't know how effective that is.
On the exams.. most of the time, I score higher than the mean.. however, for labs and such, I'm on the lower end. How the hell do I excel in college?

don't worry about freshman year, i think generally peoples' GPA's suck

i picked up the most in junior senior year-- you learn to take classes that sound hard but you've heard are easy, or you get to know teachers who grade easy, or have friends who've taken a class that was easy.

then take it, get an A and raise your GPA :)

It depends on your learning style. I'm an oral learner (stop snickering!!) so attendig class was very important to me. My g/f is a great book learner and could ace an exam without ever going to class and just reading. We both did well at school (around 3.5) and she's about to finish law school (so so much reading).

I'm sitting at about a 3.5 right now and I barely study at all. I learn mostly from attending class, but doing the assigned readings helps sometimes. 4 hours a day studying!? Good lord. The only time I "study" is the night before a test for less than an hour. Since I can't really learn through studying, I'm afraid I can't help you.

it's just something that you must do.......

start on all homeworks/readings on the day that it is assigned(even if it is due 1 week away). You don't have to finish it in one day, but you should attempt to do it everyday until it is due.............And also, you should try to read ahead so you know what the teacher will talk about........

In general, with college level courses, you should try to think about the subject daily.........this is what will get you good grades...

fish and soph years suck.. my gpa first 4 semesters. 3.5. Last 4 semesters, 3.9. I basically found my groove of not going to classes and wasting time there when you could use that time to play CS. haha. But seriously, you need to find an effective way to study and have good test taking skills to do well in college. Classes may get harder over time, but it gets easier... you know what i mean.

The things you do that cause you to get bad grades, stop doing them. :)

You'd be surprised at how actually doing the assigned readings ahead of time can help. If you read ahead for each class, you could probably get away with taking little or no notes.

Am currently studying for a test tomorrow, which I put off by about 14 hours. Atleast I still have about 10 hours until the class. :D

They told us that in our school. They were telling us that the average student studies that much, I sure don't see that going on. And that we should all at least study 2 hours per 1 hour of class.
