How do you know whether TIM is properly applied?

Hi. This is my first time using TIM.

So do you actually have to remove the heatsink to check?

How do you know whether TIM is properly applied?

It can't really hurt to take the heatsink off to check, I did that the first few times because I didn't trust myself.

Each type of TIM has different application instructions, you should follow the manufacturers instructions.

the only way u know is by practice or by trial and error

it also depends on the type of paste. if you get good temps and u think the temps are correct, then you probably applied it correctly.

Well, if you took it off to check it would defeat the purpose, since you'd have to reapply it again for optimum performance. Removing then reattaching the heatsink will produce air bubbles in the TIM.
