How do you know Vitamins actually work?

I am a regular vitamin user and I take them just because ...but do they really work or is it all hype. I just switched to another brand with all the Asian ingredients(sold at Costco,7 pills in a packet)) and noticed that my urine is much yellower...wierd...is that a sign or what...
 
Have your arms grown by a couple of inches? Can you list about 20% more weights? can you run faster? if not, they're probably not working.
