How do you know if you're good-looking?

How do you know if you are good looking or just plain ugly?

Do you base your opinion based on what the media shows you, like the actors/models on the TV, movies, etc, e.g. Brad Pitt = hot, this dude = not? But what about those extremely skinny and even starved models? And you can't really take an IQ-like test to evaluate your appearance..

Of course, your mother calls you a cute boy/girl, but that's just trying to cheer you up..

My being "good looking" depends on them, as beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

I dunno, it seems it like it would be something you just discern from your every day average life...you'll know if people like you, and why they like you. Self-image is completely different...everybody should like what they see...when you don't like yourself, then you'll never think that anyone else would either.

I'm glad that I like who I am and am confident with what I have, but lots of people aren't, and it must suck to be them.
