Hehe stupid me. I have fried two chips on this mobo(MSI K7T PRO2) because I didn't put the heatsink on right. stupid me!! the alpha PAL6035, i put in the screws for the fan
too deep and it put a space between the chip and the heatsink.
now with the dead chip the mobo doesnt power up at all.
well when it fried i tried to boot it again. and it wouldnt.
i took out the chip and booted the mobo and it powered up.
I am just afraid that I damaged the mobo. If so how do i find out.
with no other socket a cpus to test with.
hrmm. at least i got a replacement on my second cpu!!!!

Most of the time, when you overheated the chip, the motherboard is not damaged. Also, allow the chip to cool off completely (spring canned air help to cool the chip), reseat the heatsink properly and try to boot again. You might get lucky. You said you fried two cpus? You must be setting the voltage higher than the specs.
