How do you keep your breath smelling good?

What do you guys use to keep your breath smelling nice? I started brushing a lot more and brushing my tongue more heavily and flossing, but it still doesn't smell as good as it could, I don't think. Plus, when I floss, there is a pretty intense smell between the teeth.

I'm thinking about getting some new mouthwash without alcohol, since I read somewhere that only masks the smell (I can tell that, too).

I just brush it in the morning, and as far as I can tell thats enough.

Keep some mints in your pocket. Altoids are pretty strong but they're powdery. I usually get some Breath Savers - those work pretty good. And mouthwash with alcohol does just mask the smell - it also drys out your mouth and tongue in the long run.

Brushing three times a day does the trick. I sometimes use Listerine in the morning just to be sure :)

Also, Altoids or Ice Breaker mints are great for a quick coverup.

Brush my teeth and use Listerine (or Scope but I find that's not as strong) and it keeps my breath nice and fresh.

Brush your teef and rinse with Listerine (diluted 1:2 with water) 3 times a day and suck on Altoids several times a day.

You guys are lucky that works. It used to for me as well but now my breath smells like a cat's foot after the litterbox.

Beyond brushing and crap the mouthwash that is supposed to kill tongue bacteria (the source of many people's bad breath) is the stuff from www.smilekiss.com personally I find that mints are crap. Gum is good as long as you're constantly chewing it, but otherwise a good brushing and tongue scraping plus that stuff from smilekiss does an "ok" job, but not great unless I then use gum constantly.

Be sure to brush way in the back. If you don't gag, you're not doing it right.

I always gag.. :( I can't get the brush back that far, either. Dunno why I have problems with gagging on my toothbrush.. I can usually control my gag reflex.

Those tongue scrapers any good? I use a blade because I got the impression that they are not sharp enough to get a good scraping going on. Do they get any real amounts of material?

Orbit or Eclipse gum and cool blasts breath mints.

Listerine strips are also good.

Ask a dentist to scrap spaces between your teeth and gum to get rid of #$#(*&#.

On flossing, I'd dip gentle-gum floss (it's thick and soft) into a cup of listerin and floss. I'd re-dip for every between-teeth space near the back; these are ones that tend to smell yucky. This listerine-dipped floss seems to be a good alternative if you get dry mouth easily.

Flossing after each main meal helps a great deal.

I was told tough brushing is not effective (it's the ends of the bristle that brush) and may hurt your gum.

The plastic tongue scrapers are so-so. They're not the substitution for a toothbrush to the tongue, but rather a scraper which gets rid of what the toothbrush didn't finish. If you're like me, they don't work too well, since i've been known to snap those little plastic suckas while scraping too hard.

But anyways, just keep up to all the suggestions in here, and you'll do fine. I don't think you can make you breath smell good instantly, if you keep up the brushing the tongue, the smell will eventually wear down. Just don't expect it to happen overnight.

Edit- i still don't understand the whole flossing thing. I've seem to have done without it so far, the last time i visited the dentist i didn't have any cavities. Everytime i try to floss, i don't ever find anything between the teeth. Am i supposed to? :Q
