How do you keep Windows from changing speaker settings?

Not a big problem, but it gets annoying having to keep alt-tabbing out of a game to change the speaker setting in XP back to surround. Is there a reg fix I can use to kind of lock in the setting so no outside program can change it?

Not sure.

Might look for updating the soundcard drivers. Are there any patches to the game?
