how do you keep hangers from messing up long sleeve cotton shirts?

you know how when you hang up long sleeve shirts that aren't button up and the hanger makes little rises in the shoulders cause the shirt is heavier than a tshirt?

Plastic hangers? Maybe try wooden hangers (because they're thicker... distribute the weight over a greater area... $3.50 for 8 at Ikea)

don't hang them, fold them.

no they get wrinkles

no, he said fold, not throw into the drawer

and you get get hangers that are wider that won't stretch the fabric as much

It wasnt rocket science.

Sleeves across chest of shirt with lower part of sleeve resting atop opposite side of hanger. Takes the weight of the sleeves off shoulders of shirt
