How do you keep basketball shoes sticky/clean?

For some reason, all of a sudden, my Nike basketball shoes no longer have any traction on them when I play in the gym. This pair that I have has only been worn for about 6 months and they have never been worn outside, only on indoor basketball courts. Now, I have to resort to the old "wiping the bottom of my shoe with my hand" trick every time play stops just to prevent myself from sliding halfway across the court when I try and cut. Any suggestions on how to keep the bottom of my shoes sticky? Thanks.

It's probably more the court's fault, than your shoes. If they haven't waxed it in more than a month(or use the wrong wax), or they don't sweep it before every practice/game, it's gonna seem like a rink out there. I really hated playing on those kinds of courts, you looked very foolish "sliding" past the guy you were defending or when you tried to stop.
Otherwise, walk in a pool of spilled pop, it'll help for at least a quarter. :)
