I am tring to learn linux and I just installed Xandros 3.0 and I had no problem with the install. When I downloaded firefox 1.0.2 I saved the file in the home directory. How do I execute the file?
The website gave me these instructions:

Extract the tarball and run the installer like so:

tar -xzvf firefox-1.0.2.installer.tar.gz
cd firefox-installer
./firefox-installer

Where do i type these commands?
remember I am brand new at this.
-Thanks

I assume the terminal/command line but it didn't work for me in Fedora Core for some reason so I did the automated install through the Red Hat update.

I just wait for the package maintainer to update his packages, mixing manual installs and packages isn't good.

You run them at the terminal, but waiting for the package maintainer would be your smartest move.
