Ye i tried that once with my recorder, but then it sounds nasty :disgust::| maybe because i'm not used to hearing myself talk... but it's funny because I didn't know my accent was that bad until i listen to the tapes

trainer costs a lot. as i'm writing this, i'm recording my own voice, hehe, good to start now than not start at all. About woman liking an accent?? i don't know about mine heheh

Yeah of course, those Chinese and Vietnamese guys sound so hot with saying &quot;I gath intoh mah cah, undh tri to stah iht buht iht won star&quot;. And those South Asian (Indian, Pakistani) accents are just to die for. Only some accents qualify for being sexy, most don't.

Also, speech therapy costs mucho dolares! about $1300-$2000, and no results are guaranteed.

Buy tapes and junk like that. I've heard it works pretty well if you use them correctly and do all the right stuff. If you can't do that, just.. Talk to a lot of friends that don't have an accent.

They aren't that effective. They just keep saying stuff and you have to repeat. After some time this gets boring, and you see no results, because what you really need is a live person to repeat after and correct your mistakes.

live person is hard to find though without the money, so recording your voice is the way to go??

Or you can get a friend to help you out by correcting you and helping you say words without the accent.

go to social events, where you can talk to many people without pressure or embarassments. No one is going to know you anyway. Just be cool.

Well this maybe good advice, but generally speaking, a lot of people cannot do this. Most people who speak with a foreign accent are shunned, and sometimes ridiculed.

Unless Romeo Must Die was dubbed, I don't think that Jet Li got a bad accent.

I think I sound horrible when I record and playback. I have a very funny accent because I spoke Korean and Spanish before speaking English. So at times I speak very fast (from Spanish), but I try to slow down and once in a while I pronounce some words in a funny way.

But who cares? I get along well with most people and I found no problems. I don't know if this helps, but I improved my English a lot by watching a lot of TV shows (i.e. WCW when they still existed and used to be pretty good) and carefully listened to Tony Schiavoni, Bobby Heenan and wrestlers to learn clich&eacute;s, slang, pronunciation, etc.

for some strange reason, i think listening to the radio with Headphones helps more than listening thru speakers...
