How do you identify cheaters in UT2004?

Hello all,

Just had a quick question.. How can you tell when someone is cheating? I understand that some people are good, but hitting with the rocket while flipping and bouncing off the walls with one shot seems a little like bullsh!t to me. Is there anyway to tell..? I would rather hone my skills with honest players.. the game is more fun that way..

Thanks

Are there even any cheat programs out yet?

Cheat programs for UT and UT2K3 will not work, the scum that write that garbage must re-write it for each new UT version. Even a UT2K4 demo cheat program probably wouldn't run with the retail version.

Some people just practice for hours a day and really are insanely good. Not me though, I'm still trying to work up to the "mostly harmless" skill level.

There are a few hacks out there... speed hack is being used in CTF. A few aimbots are floating around too. They've already banned a number of CD keys based upon high level viewing of the cheaters in action.

It does take a while to get the hang of dodging and double jumping while shooting an enemy but after some practice it's pretty insane how hard it is to hit you. As for the accuracy, a lot of it is luck, but more importantly, using the right weapon and being able to switch quickly. You should be using different weapons for short, medium, and long ranges. The adrenaline stuff is nifty too.

I mainly play Onslaught and this stuff is important in ons mode, but not as important as in the other modes.
