How do you hire someone from Hong Kong that is living in Australia?

Ok, I'm going to be partnering up with this guy for some website stuff. Basically I am part of an advertising program that he can't get in to, so he's going to pay me 20% of his profits if I let him use my ad program account.

But he is an international student in Australia, and his legal residence or whatever is in Hong Kong. So I'm trying to figure out how I should handle this tax-wise.

Should I start a sole-proprietorship and hire him as an employee? Or should I write him off as a business expense on my personal taxes? (He will be getting 80% of the income, I will get 20%)

Ok I think I just figured it out - If I say he is "Contract labor" on my 1040 Schedule C, then I won't have to pay taxes on the 80% that I pay him.

So the new question is: Can I count him as "Contract labor"? I will be using his website to display my my ads...
