How do you hide wire going from speaker stands to receiver?

I have a pair of speaker stands for my front left and right speakers in my HT setup. The right speaker is a good 8-10 feet away from the receiver. The stands themselves do a good job of hiding the cable internally, but I don't feel like having the wire laying on top of my carpet between the stand and the receiver. I was thinking about making a small incision in the carpet just below the stand and then snake the wire under the carpet towards the receiver. Does anyone have any better suggestions?

They have this which they sell at Lowe's....
Here
Don't bother with Lowe's online.....It shows nothing but 2x pieces! In the store they have much more of a selection.

Wiremold CordMate® II offers greater capacity over CordMate®. Especially suited for covering home entertainment wires, speaker cables, TV/satellite cabling, or home office wiring. Self-adhesive backing makes for easy installation. Stylish design complements any interior setting. Paintable and stainable.

Yuor method of slitting the carpet will work just fine as long as you can maneuver the wire all the way to the other side. Push sticks make it easy, but almost anything that will bend enough and not break will work.
Wiremold is great if you can deal with all the little bits.
You might also try to see if there is enough room under the moulding at the edge of the wall to push it under. sometimes that is the easiest way.

Buy Nordost Odin, then you wont have to hide them!

Youd probably be best of with the things from Lowes, if you cannot get them underneath your floors.

I bought wires long enough that I could run them along the baseboard on one side of the room. They're tidy and out of the way, I don't mind seeing them. You can get colored speaker wire to match your wall/baseboard or paint them yourself.

I proudly lay my snakes on the floor.

If you want to hide them you can push between carpet and front wall, just watch that you pierce the wire with the spikes on the carpet strip.

I don't like the hole in the carpet idea, you may need to reposition your speakers to get better sound. It took me a good few months to really position my speakers properly.

I always tucked them under the baseboard mouldings until my current house. I haven't figure out a way to inconspicuously bypass the fireplace without cutting up carpet.

He had a very very long thread on AVS 20,000$+ Ultra High End forum about his ERS Paper and slicing up of his Valhala. Best Comic relief ever. Especially his "scary" whispering youtube videos. (His name was ValhalaPC)

I just drill a small hole through the floor, snake it through the basement, and up through a small hole to the receiver.

That's probably what I'll end up doing. Since the stands are a good 3-4 feet away from any baseboard, that isn't an option.
